Global Hot Spot: The Sagittarius New Moon on November 23, 2022

Boris Karloff, born November 23, 1887 in England, started to really scare moviegoers beginning in the first film classic of Frankenstein (based on the novel by Mary Shelley in 1818) that was released by Universal Pictures on November 21, 1931 when the great British actor was in the midst of his Mid-Life Crisis and about to turn 44 years old. He starred in many subsequent horror movies which makes sense when we realize that although his Sun was in the first degree of often upbeat and gregarious Sagittarius, he had an almost precise Mercury-Jupiter conjunction in Scorpio and Venus conjunct shock-inducer Uranus in Libra. Considering his portrayal of the monster Frankenstein included his coming-to-life in the films via violent thunderstorms and complex electrical machinery, the fact that his chart shows Venus within 1 degree of lightning-zapper Uranus is a definite proof of the power of major astrological alignments in the birth chart.

Dateline November 22, 2022: For those of you who are now enjoying the Astrology Cosmic Kalendar App one day at a time – but who have not yet subscribed to be able to look several weeks into the future – here are the calendar entries for the very potent Sagittarius New Moon on Wednesday November 23 and the day after Thursday November 24 (Thanksgiving Day in the USA). Because every day – beyond the current 24 hours that we define as one rotation of our celestial orb on its axis – has astro-zodiacal magic, mystery and wonder is why thousands of people around the world have been tuning into the Astrological Cosmic Kalendar for the last 41 years and since it was at the heart-center of our Welcome to Planet Earth pioneering astrology newspaper/magazine during the 1980s and 1990s.

The first main reason this New Moon — energizing 2 degrees of Sagittarius — is extra significant is because Jupiter in Pisces is making a station to shift from reverse to direct just 5 minutes after the solar-lunar union is exact. Since Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system, its halt in the heavens nearly simultaneously with the New Moon is a major event of 2022.

The second main reason is that in the horoscope for this New Moon calculated for our nation’s capital in Washington, D.C., Mars in Gemini retrograding is exactly rising while simultaneously uniting with its own placement at the birth of America in our Declaration of Independence horoscope on July 4, 1776.

Future Cosmic Kalendar Entries for Wednesday November 23 and Thursday November 24 (All times are listed in PST.)

Wednesday November 23 Vivid dreams can lead to amazing realizations as the Moon in Scorpio trines visionary Neptune in Pisces (12:04am). While the dark-of-the-moon phase is strong — leading up to the arrival of the New Moon at 2 degrees of Sagittarius (2:58pm) — it is also the equivalent of an extended void lunar zone when it makes sense to be completing odds and ends rather than breaking new ground with dynamic plans. Plus, when the Moon moves away from its harmonious connection to Neptune to form a second auspicious trine to almost-stationary and benevolent Jupiter in Pisces (10:17am), a short void lunar cycle begins and ends when the Moon enters Sagittarius (12:17pm). Keep a low emotional profile around the time that Juno in Pisces forms a dicey, 45-degree aspect to Pluto in Capricorn (12:47pm) and express TLC to dear ones under duress. The really big celestial news occurs at 2:58pm and then five minutes later at 3:03pm. First, the New Moon ignites 2 degrees of Sagittarius at 2:58pm and then at 3:03pm, Jupiter, the ruling planet of Sagittarius, halts its retrograde cycle by shifting into direct motion at 29 degrees of Pisces. Focus attention on these Jupiter themes – the power of positive thinking, goal-orientation, literary and educational pursuits, seeing the shape of things to come, providence and benevolence, good fortune, Big Business, long-distance journeys as well as pride, arrogance, hubris and overdoing a good thing. Keep in mind that while Jupiter is no longer retrograde, it has virtually no forward motion for the next few days. Therefore, leaping ahead with all kinds of large-scale ventures may be premature in their efficacy. (Jupiter remains in forward motion until September 4, 2023 when it will stop again to go into reverse at 16 degrees of Taurus.) [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Standard Time. Thursday November 24 Even though this is Thanksgiving Day in the USA, it’s pretty hard to top a day like Wednesday when a fiery Sagittarius New Moon happened almost simultaneously with Jupiter, ruling the ninth sign of the zodiac, halting its retrograde movement to go direct in late-Pisces. By the way, before the discovery of Neptune in 1846, Jupiter was always said to rule two signs — Sagittarius and Pisces. Right now there is a battle going on in the heavens between a return to anomalous interplanetary relationships versus allowing human souls to function under more advantageous circumstances. On the challenging side of the astro-psychic spectrum, prevent yourself from falling into shadow (a la The Lord of the Rings terminology) as Mercury in Sagittarius becomes overactive in forming a tense, 45-degree aspect to Pluto in Capricorn (12:41pm), a frictional square to Juno in Pisces (4:41pm) and an oblique, 150-degree tie to the fate-destiny strong Mean North Node of the Moon in Taurus (8:39pm). And the Moon in Sagittarius forming its monthly polarity to Mars in Gemini (10:37pm) can signify a metaphorical bitter pill to swallow. From the solar systemic rescue-team perspective, the Moon makes its monthly fortuitous unions with Venus (5:27am) and Mercury (6:50am). Plus, the multi-faceted healing celestial body Chiron in Aries doesn’t want to be forgotten as it forms a trine to the Moon (8:32am) and then Chiron moves on to trine seemingly ubiquitous Mercury (10:48pm). Soar into the higher mental stratosphere with the winged Messenger of the Gods planet embracing the centaur magic-enhancing planet symbolized by the key that opens a variety of esoteric gates of spiritual learning. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Standard Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]
