Nancy Lee Vierra: Celebration of Life January 18, 2019

January 18, 2019

To Nance and your Extended Family, Friends and fellow Travelers on Mother Earth…

It is now year 66 since you took a first breath on January 18, 1953. Last year on this date, we shared a Life Celebration in your Honor – fifteen days after you took your last breath on January 3, 2018.

The hope I share today in 2019 is that many more souls will be awakened and comforted by your story A Stone Thrush that you wrote so beautifully, inspired by a lucid dream, in June 2007.

Birds of all kinds, but particularly geese, have been the main way you have communicated with me since your passing. On January 3, 2019, while at your gravesite and with hundreds of your “flock” in attendance, I read this poem from Sara Teasdale (one of your favorites):

“When I Am Not With You”

When I am not with you I am alone,

For there is no one else and there is nothing that comforts me but you.

When you are gone suddenly I am sick, blackness is round me, there is nothing left.

I have tried many things, music and cities, stars in their constellations and the sea, but there is nothing that comforts me but you;

And my poor pride bows down like grass in a rain-storm drenched with my longing.

The night is unbearable, oh let me go to you, for there is no one, there is nothing to comfort me but you.

From Dark of the Moon by Sara Teasdale (August 8, 1884 – January 29, 1933)

Nance and I co-wrote the lead story – The Moon in Pisces: Poetry of the Soul -- for our largest-ever Welcome to Planet Earth astrological magazine – the “Moon Edition” of Libra/Scorpio 1996. That story focused on the lives and poetic masterpieces of Edgar Allan Poe and Sara Teasdale.

Today’s weather forecast here is for “a rain-storm” which will definitely be drenched with my longing…

I Love You Nance and Always Will,

Mark
