Dateline December 11, 2023: For those of you who are now enjoying the Astrology Cosmic Kalendar App one day at a time – but who have not yet subscribed to be able to look several weeks into the future – here is the calendar entry for a very significant date Tuesday December 12 and the day after. Because every day – beyond the current 24 hours that we define as one rotation of our celestial orb on its axis – has astro-zodiacal magic, mystery and wonder is why thousands of people around the world have been tuning into the Astrological Cosmic Kalendar for the last 42 years and since it was at the heart-center of our Welcome to Planet Earth pioneering astrology newspaper/magazine during the 1980s and 1990s.
The Sagittarius New Moon – which arrives at 3:33pm PST on Tuesday December 12 – represents a super-charged energy-field that will dominate the psychic atmosphere of humanity and Mother Earth during the next 4 weeks.
When you read the Cosmic Kalendar below and realize that Mercury is making a halt in the heavens in Capricorn just 7+ hours after the New Moon to go into reverse until January 1, then all the traditional themes of the communication, transportation, literary, business and educational 3rd and 9th signs of the zodiac will be present and your job as an enlightened earthling is to take the best of these deeply-transformational archetypes and turn them into soul-uplifting vibrations that reshape the direction of our beloved home planet for the Highest Good.
When looking at the horoscope calculated for Washington, D.C., the Sun and Moon are in the sixth house – representing the various national concerns about Flu, Covid and other illnesses that often spread at this time of the year. Since the New Moon occurs at 20+ degrees of Sagittarius, this placement directly opposes the USA red planet Mars at 21+ degrees of Gemini from the USA birth chart on July 4, 1776. This can increase volatility and ring alarm bells especially by the multi-media regarding the overall state of the nation’s health and well-being. In addition, Neptune in Pisces is elevated and conjunct the Midheaven reinforcing its natal placement in Virgo also elevated in the USA birth chart. Neptune does have the capacity to make enormous waves, along with confusion, so don’t be surprised to hear about ERs and hospitals becoming filled with patients.
Fortunately, Earth Mother and largest asteroid Ceres is exactly united with America’s Rising Degree at 7+ Sagittarius and this placement may neutralize some of the discord created by the New Moon in house six and Neptune at the Midheaven. Ceres is deeply connected to all the realms of Nature, maternal-nurturing energies, plus food, diet-nutrition, mother-daughter relationships and productivity in your main fields of expertise.
Two other slow-moving outer planets, Uranus in Taurus and Pluto in Capricorn are super-active. Uranus is in retrograde motion at 19+ degrees of Taurus until January 26 and will be conjunct the USA Vesta placement for many weeks. While Vesta has much to do with soul-sisters, investment and insurance matters, home and hearth, it is also strongly associated with the safety and security of the country. Uranus can signify shocks, surprises and hard-to-decipher anomalous actions and behavior, and it is also considered by astrologers to be the “higher-octave” planet to Mercury. As such Uranus is connected strongly to breakthroughs in higher consciousness, lightning-like realizations, and bold ideas that can change the course of the future in a positive, life-affirming way. Meanwhile, America is still experiencing its first-ever volatile, intense and extreme Pluto Return in late-Capricorn since The Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 and this very important and rare synchronicity is in turn affecting every nation around the world in clandestine and mysterious ways.
Remember that Venus, the peace-maker planet over the millennia, is about to unite with problem-solver and master-strategist Pallas Athena and usually this only happens once a year. The traditional love-heart goddess gets into the act by making the rendezvous with Pallas Athena at 11 degrees of Scorpio early on Wednesday December 13 and less than 2 hours after the heavenly halt by Mercury. Tuesday December 12 Keep in mind that until the New Moon occurs at 3:33pm at 21 degrees of Sagittarius, the dark-of-the-moon phase takes precedence. What that means is that wisdom dictates finishing old business from the last 4+ weeks on a high note and not going gung-ho with new, dynamic plans. Since the Moon makes its monthly union with Mars (2:07am), Venus forms a contra-parallel with Jupiter (2:35am) and a parallel with Saturn (4:41am) while the Sun parallels Pluto (9:56am), avoid any cosmic mischief-making that could send you on an meandering detour. Fortunately, the Moon forms an harmonious trine with healing-maestro Chiron in Aries (6:40am) that uplifts your spirits and once the Sagittarius New Moon clocks in at 3:33pm, a giant dose of forward-momentum is released into the psychic atmosphere of humanity. Venus moves on from its early links to Jupiter and Saturn by creating a dicey, 135-degree liaison with Neptune in Pisces (7:35am). Therefore, protect yourself from falling into any emotional webs of intrigue. As the Moon moves toward the end of Sagittarius, a void lunar cycle develops in a square to Neptune starting at 10:50pm and the void limbo zone extends until 7:33am tomorrow when cardinal-earth Capricorn begins in earnest. The challenge of the day is that Mercury makes its halt to go into retrograde motion at 11:10pm activating 9 degrees of Capricorn. This reversal remains in effect until January 1, 2024 when Mercury will stop again to go direct at 23 degrees of Sagittarius. As I have shared in three podcasts entitled The Truth about Mercury Retrograde, while it is always wise to review, reflect and re-evaluate all mercurial themes (words, language, communication, education, business, health matters and issues regarding your hands, lungs and overall mobility, research projects and in-depth studies, intellect-intuition rapport and the like), while this planet is in in counterpoint to the direction of the Sun and Moon, Mercury in reverse and any planet appearing to go retrograde is not bad or negative. Realize that we do live in a heliocentric solar system and the planets are revolving in forward motion around the Sun. Therefore, the geocentric appearance of retrograde phenomena must not be seen to heighten fear, worry and doubt – which is often expressed in certain annual guide books and usually focused on Mercury because this planet has three retrograde cycles every year rather than one. Wednesday December 13 Easy does it following the late-night reversal of Mercury and the potency of Tuesday’s Sagittarius New Moon and the assortment of powerful sky configurations. Even though the official Mercury turnaround happened on Tuesday, take a look at what was written in yesterday’s calendar entry about the great Messenger of the Divine planet so you can utilize this particular cycle wisely and creatively. The Moon remains in void mode in Sagittarius until 7:33am when the lunar orb enters determined and down-to-earth Capricorn for the next 48+ hours.
