Venus Stationary, Retrograde and Why it Matters

Venus Alert! – For Women Everywhere and tuned-in, empathic and compassionate Men: The planet Venus makes a station or apparent halt in the heavens at 11 degrees of Scorpio on Friday October 5 at 12:06pm PDT. All Venusian themes and qualities – see our Astro-Business Keys section on this website to explore those Venus archetypes – are reinforced not only on October 5, but throughout the entire six-week cycle that concludes on Friday November 16 when Venus stations again to go forward in the zodiac at 26 degrees of Libra.

However, there is much more to any Venus retrograde cycle than the beginning, the entire time-period, and the end date. On Friday October 26 at 7:17am PDT, the Earth, Venus retrograde, and the Sun will line-up in our solar system, creating what astronomers call the “Inferior Conjunction of the Sun and Venus.” This sky alignment energizes 4 degrees of Scorpio and the eminent astrologers of the 20th century, Dr. Marc Edmund Jones and Dane Rudhyar, referred to this occurrence as a New Venus.

Similar in essence to the every-29-day New Moon when the solar and lunar orbs unite (but happening far more infrequently), this New Venus dynamic is a launching of a longer cycle regarding Venus in its relationship to our planet that lasts for approximately 19 months. Included in this relationship is a “Superior Conjunction of the Sun and Venus” when Venus is moving forward rather than in reverse and we have what astrologers Dr. Jones and Dane Rudhyar would consider a Full Venus. [Important Note: The Full Venus in this 19 month cycle will occur at 22 degrees of Leo on August 13, 2019 and represents the crescendo-peak of Venusian themes that is released into the Earth and Humanity at the New Venus on October 26, 2018. The next Venus station and retrograde cycle after the current one arrives on May 13, 2020 at 22 degrees of Gemini – leading to the next New Venus on June 3, 2020 at 14 degrees of Gemini.]

In closing this time – knowing that the #MeToo movement is expanding, the fierce national political battle over alleged sexual assault by Judge Brett Kavanaugh against Dr. Christine Blasey Ford (when he was 17 and she was 15) is at a white-hot degree of intensity, and the mid-term election on November 6 happens on the one day in November when the Moon (representing the public and our country’s deep-seated moods and feelings in the field of Mundane/World Astrology) unites with Venus retrograde in the sky in Libra (signifying the realms of primary partnerships, love ties, and social activities) – it is wise to realize that this six-week Venus retrograde time-period is a profound opportunity to review, reflect and meditate on the higher values of peace, harmony, balance, respect, honesty and understanding which truly need to be the foundation of any well-functioning and spiritually-evolving society in the 21st century.
